This popular proverb carries a profound wisdom that calls for doing good quietly, without expecting anything in return. The sea here symbolizes vastness and forgetfulness, as if to say: sow goodness and leave it to time, just as a seed is cast into the depths of the sea with no knowledge of its fate.

This painting embodies the old Qatari proverb “Do good and throw it into the sea,” where a woman wearing the traditional head abaya appears, carrying on her head a box filled with goodness to cast into the sea without awaiting a reward. Through my art, I seek to merge Qatari culture and popular heritage within my paintings, making them a window into our history and values.
